EPITUM 3D PRINTER REVIEW
The Task > Edit a 10-minute video showing how the Fresh X Racing team uses the Epitum JL 3D printer for prototyping and parts production - ranging from simple wire mounts to complex custom components like intake pipes. The delivery target was two weeks.
The Process > The video follows a straightforward structure, using a two-camera setup across several workshop and production locations. To keep the technical narrative engaging, I integrated contextual b-roll showing the printer in action, time-lapses of the printing process, 3D modeling stages, and close-ups of the finished parts. Since the edit itself was relatively linear, I put significant effort into the color grade. I used numerous power windows to direct the viewer’s attention to specific details, such as highlighting 3D-printed components within the complex engine bay.
A major focus was placed on the "hook" intro - a one-minute segment about a motorsport team using 3D printing to save time and ultimately win the Daytona 24 Hours. I paired this backstory with inspiring, dramatic music to set the tone for the main review. My workflow followed my standard narrative routine: project organization, proxy creation, and a transcript-based rough cut before moving into fine-tuning the pacing, sound, and final color polish.
